Most of these pills (there are several brands and types) are combination pills. This means they contain a combination of both estrogen and progesterone hormones to prevent ovulation or the release of the egg during the monthly cycle. Thus, a woman is incapable of getting pregnant if she is not ovulating because there is no egg to fertilize.

In addition to this, the pill also helps thicken the mucus around the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus and reach any eggs in case any have been accidentally released. To add to this, the pill often also affects the lining of the uterus, making it difficult for an egg stick to the wall of the uterus.

Consumption and packaging


Most often, these pills come in 21-day or 28-day packs. One is taken everyday, preferably at the same time. In fact, taking them at irregular times and forgetting to take pills only lowers their effectiveness.

In case of the 21-day pack, women take these pills for 21 days and follow it up with a break week during which they menstruate. As for the 28-day pack, women consume the pills for 28 days--except that the last seven pills are only placebo or sugar pills. We've all heard that the radiation from our mobile phones can be a cause for headaches but while you may not use your phone to make long calls you can still be in danger of severe headaches and eye strain. With smartphones becoming widely used to do everything from checking emails to reading books and watching TV shows, the small screens are putting our eyes under great strain.

Dr Mark Rosenfeld, a researcher from New York State University College of Optometry, explains that phone graphics and the small font size can lead to more strenuous eye focus, and thus more likely to lead to headaches and eye fatigue.

Over 1,200 migraine sufferers were tested in a study at the Headache Center of Atlanta where they found that those who slept for about six hours a night were more likely to suffer from more frequent and severe headaches than those who had more sleep.

New Twitter has special profiles for businesses. Profiles for brands allow a profile banner which can be logo or some other cover. Also the ability to pin twitter status which will remain at top of the other statuses. Example profile twitter.com/intel

Inventors spend years living with their designs; tinkering with them, perfecting them until they are ready to show them off to the world. Most toil away in obscurity for the rest of their lives, although there are obvious exceptions. Yet there are also those whose innovations not only attracted the world’s attention but which – one way or another – sadly resulted in the inventor's death, too.








1. Aurel Vlaicu – Airplane

Aurel Vlaicu (1882 – 1913) was an engineer and airplane inventor born in Romania. He built his first plane and flew it in a maiden flight on June 17, 1910. Vlaicu went on to build a second plane, the Vlaicu Nr. II, and won numerous prizes at an air show in 1912. Sadly, he died in his own invention on September 13, 1913 when the Vlaicu II failed as he attempting to cross the Carpathian Mountains. Vlaicu had already been building a new plane, the Vlaicu III, but when he heard two other Romanian pilots were planning to try and cross the Carpathians he made an ill-judged decision to use his old and worn out Vlaicu II rather than wait for the new one to be finished. It was a decision that cost him his life.







The H. L. Hunley submarine had already had some deaths chalked up to it: the first crew was engulfed by water when a ship passed while the sub's hatches were open; five died. A second crew was recruited and, during a routine exercise, Hunley himself decided to take command. On October 15, 1863, the submarine sank and all eight on board lost their lives. Unbelievably, it was later raised and gained prominence as the first submarine in history to successfully sink an enemy ship.

The Foster Care program serves children who require short-term or long-term placement outside their families. Children stay in private neighborhood homes of foster parents who are trained and certified by the organization. Not more than two children are placed in a single foster home. This is to ensure more one-on-one attention. The children attend public school, receive spiritual guidance and Christian nurture. They are also provided with individual and family counseling services as needed. To provide high quality care to children in a family environment Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services carefully screens, selects, trains, supervises and supports qualified foster families in the community. PCHAS makes a consistent effort to closely match foster family characteristics with the unique needs of each child, thus giving placements a strong opportunity to be successful. PCHAS began offering foster care and adoption services from 2010 in the Houston area when a well known children’s charity merged with the organization. The Houston program provides children with foster and foster-to-adopt homes and help children and birth families through their maternity, adoption and post-adoption services.
